Thus, third party untested batteries in any device its alway recommended to use an external charger. Also if your using an overly powerful USB charger such as a speed charger, its always best to charge any battery outside your device. It is best practise to always charge any 18650 in an external charger and not in the product itself. 18650 batteries are powerful and if one fails inside your expensive product the warranty will not cover damage through battery charging issues. The Nitecore UI1 is a portable USB li-ion battery charger, perfect for traveling and on-the-go charging requirements. Offering compatibility with a wider variety of batteries, the compact charger can be used with large sized batteries, including 20700 and 21700 cells.The UI1 automatically determines the optimal charging current when a battery is inserted; if below 2.9V the low current charging mode of 100mA will be activated or if over 2.9V the standard mode with a maximum charging current of 800mA is adopted.
